Inclusivity & Diversity

We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. We believe Taekwondo should be accessible to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, abilities and life stages.

Our Diverse Community

Our students reflect the community we serve. We proudly teach:

  • Children aged 3–5, juniors, teens, adults and seniors

  • Complete beginners through to black belt students

  • Competitive athletes and those starting a new fitness or wellbeing journey

  • People of all shapes, sizes and confidence levels

  • Students from many countries and cultures including China, Iran, El Salvador, Afghanistan, Serbia, Poland, Romania, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Bangladesh, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Diversity is not something we manage — it is something we value.

Faith, Belief & Cultural Respect

We regularly teach students from a wide range of faiths and cultural backgrounds. We take a respectful and flexible approach to ensure no student is asked to act against their beliefs and we insist upon mutual respect and integrity

Bowing and religious observance

While bowing in Taekwondo is traditionally a sign of courtesy rather than worship, we understand that some interpretations of faith do not permit bowing.

Students may simply stand respectfully or abstain

This is fully accepted and never questioned.

If you're fasting just let us know and you can suspend training for the fasting period, or change to later classes after sunset.

Ability, fitness and confidence

You do not need to be fit, flexible or confident to start Taekwondo.

  • We welcome students returning to exercise after illness or long breaks

  • We support individuals with low confidence or anxiety

  • We accommodate neurodivergent students who benefit from routine and structure and have a great track record of producing black belts with e.g. learning difficulties, ADHD, Autism and so forth

  • Progress is based on personal development, not comparison

Women & Girls in Taekwondo

We are often asked whether we run women-only classes, particularly by Muslim families. While we do not currently offer women-only sessions, we want to reassure prospective students:

  • We already teach a large number of Muslim women and girls

  • There is no requirement for physical contact between men and women

  • Techniques are taught using pads, space awareness and demonstration

  • Modest sports clothing is welcomed and respected including headscarves

  • Training is conducted in a safe, supervised and respectful environment

Safeguaring & Welfare

The safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority.

  • All classes are supervised by qualified, experienced instructors

  • We maintain clear behaviour standards and boundaries

  • Bullying, harassment or discrimination are not tolerated

  • We operate in line with safeguarding expectations and best practice

  • Parents and carers are encouraged to raise concerns at any time

Our approach supports both physical safety and emotional wellbeing.
